Destiny

Gravel-sand filters are designed for filtering water used in gardening for drip irrigation and micro-sprinkler irrigation. Depending on the filter beds used: sand and gravel, the filter purifies water from mineral impurities such as sand, silt and biological particles such as algae, microorganisms and other mechanical impurities occurring in surface waters. With a fine-grained sand bed, the filters are also used for filtering deep-water from iron after aeration and precipitation of iron hydroxide flocks. Filters usually work as fast filters in pressure installations with a pressure not higher than 0.6 MPa.


Construction and legitimate activities

Cylindrical, vertical, quartz-proof, welded, the tank in the lower bottom has a horizontal partition made on the entire surface of a slotted grate with a gap of 0.2 mm. In the upper and lower head, the inflow and outflow stubs are axially welded. Depending on the preferences of the customer, the connections are made in the form of nipples or threaded sockets, flanges or vices. In the upper bottom and front wall, inspection hatches with a diameter of 150 mm are placed for filling, emptying and inspection of the filter bed. The tank is placed on four legs adapted to be placed on the frame base. First, a thin layer of fine-grained gravel is poured onto the surface of the slotted grate, which ensures maximum slackness of the grid slots and supports the layer of fine-grained sand as a filter bed.

The stream of contaminated water pumped through the upper stub is scattered on the concave plate ensuring uniform loading of the entire filtration surface of the sand. The filtered water from all impurities on the surface and the upper layer of filtration sand, flows laminar through the entire volume of sand, gravel, grid gap into the chamber under the partition and to the bottom outlet port. The appropriate thickness of the filtration layer and the gap on the entire cross-section of the filter ensures a laminar flow of water with the entire volume of the filtering mass, eliminating the possibility of creating drains and channels permeating unfiltered water. The bed rinsing is carried out by reversing the water flow direction, this is usually done when the pressure difference (caused by silting) between the input and the filter output exceeds 0.05 MPa. (half bar). Gravel sand filters are connected to a filter battery. Due to the optimization of the rinsing process, the use of three or more filters is the most appropriate in one battery. The use of a single filter forces you to rinse it with dirty water or install a hydrophore tank for clean water.
